Overview

  • We offer the resources for 3D scanning via two different methods: photogrammetry or laser. Photogrammetry is for when a full color scan is needed, laser doesn't capture color but is much faster and keeps sizing accurate
  • Employees familiar with 3D scanning are available to answer questions, but you'll be responsible for performing the scan. You'll be asked to watch this video if using the laser scanner
  • The resulting file is usually an .stl or .obj, but other options are available upon request
  • Shiny objects can be difficult to scan well and may require the use of a dulling spray (acetone and clay). Transparent or translucent objects won't scan
  • 3D scanning is only available to current students and employees
