Is it ok to post an image obtained from a Google Image search on my website or as my Facebook profile picture?

If the image is copyright protected, then using it on your website or as a profile picture violates both the reproduction and public display rights of the copyright owner, as well as their right of privacy.  The policy of many social media websites is to remove any infringing content and potentially delete accounts who repetitively post material protected by copyright.
