Does the library have equipment to scan chapters in a book?
Yes! There are a couple scanning options here at the library:
- The Learning Commons on Level 3 as well as the Family History Library have an overhead book and document scanner (Knowledge Imaging Center (KIC) Bookeye 4). This scanner allows you to edit scans before sending. This scanner will allow you to scan and save PDF files to a USB or send to an email address.
- Color printers throughout the library also have the ability to scan documents either using the flatbed scanner or document feeder on the top of the printer. While there is no cost for scanning, you will need an ID card or campus gift card to activate the printer for scanning use. If you need help accessing the scanners, contact the nearest help desk for assistance. These scanners will allow you to scan and send PDF files to an email address.

You may also request library staff to scan a chapter or article and email it to you. Request online here.
