We are delighted that you are considering a book or manuscript donation!

The mission of Special Collections is to acquire, preserve, and make available unique library materials of enduring value to researchers (students, faculty and guests) at BYU-Provo, BYU-Idaho, and BYU-Hawaii, and throughout the world. Materials accepted by Special Collections are maintained in perpetuity. This means Special Collections will make every effort to preserve donated materials, so generations to come may benefit from them.

We collect both published materials (rare books, pamphlets, maps, films, etc.) and unpublished materials (university records, manuscripts, journals, correspondence, photographs, etc.)

The department has over a dozen collections or archives, each managed by a rare book librarian, archivist, or manuscript curator (all have the title “curator”). Each curator has the responsibility of accepting new materials into their collection or archive. To make a donation, select the collecting area from our homepage that most closely aligns with your donation. Then contact by phone, email, or post the curator responsible for this collection or archive. The curator selected will discuss in detail your prospective donation, by phone or in person.

If you are unsure who to contact, please call Dainan Skeem, Chair of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections, or call a Special Collections’ receptionist at 801-422-3514.
