Please join us FRIDAY Feb. 11th at 10:00 in room 2234 for this month’s Technology Learning Community. Greg Nelson will present for us on iMacros. For those of you who missed his presentation at the Christmas Conference, this will be a great opportunity for you to see this useful program that can automate tasks. For those who attended in Dec. this will be a much more in-depth look at the program and provide more time for questions and hands on work.

In our January meeting we discussed the innovative website NetGalley, a distributor for pre-publication e-books. This is an innovative new way for publishers to get their books out for review. Many thanks to Mark for his insights into this website.

Please join us this Friday for the start of a new year of the Technology Learning Community. To start the year Mark Jackson will present information about prepublication e-books, including information about an interesting website that provides these and the devices you can read them on. The type of e-book is very unique and an interesting way for publishers to get reviews and readers before a book even comes out. Mark may also have some other interesting tidbits to share, so you never know what else you may learn at the Technology Learning Community on Friday Jan. 14^th at 10:00 am in room 2234.

Have you ever wanted to make a fun animated video? If so then join us for the Technology Learning Community this Friday Dec. 10^th at 10:00 am in room 2234 where Suzanne Julian will present a fun website that allows you to create and render video in just a few short clicks. Suzanne has used this site in some library instruction so not only will she share with us how to use it but give us some application for our students. If you have any other video sites for either viewing or creation that you would like to share bring them along so we can discuss them. We hope you can join us for this exciting meeting.

Do the upcoming holidays and the end of the semester make you feel that you have too much to do and too little time to do it in? Well come to the Technology Learning Community this Friday Nov. 12^th at 10:00 am in room 2234 to learn about some great productivity tools that can help you keep track, remember and stay organized. Fall 2010 Tentative Schedule

Welcome everyone to a new semester and a great round of Technology Learning Community meetings. We have some exciting topics for the rest of the year. For this semester we are going to be having our meetings the SECOND FRIDAY at 10:00 am in one of the instruction rooms (exact room TBA). Our tentative schedule is below. If you have any great ideas or topics that you would like to discuss please let me know.

September 10 – PC and MAC E-Book Readers

October 8 – Productivity tools

November 12 – Firefox extensions

December 10 – Programs for quickly authoring web content

Please join us for some time to play with and learn about a variety of technologies.

March 2010 Meeting

Please join us for the Technology Learning Community This Friday March 5th at 10:00 in Room 2231.

We will be discussing internet media beyond YouTube. The internet has created an explosion of the opportunities to media in all its forms including music, other sound files and video. We will be looking at a variety of media sites, how these sites change how we view information and the world and the role libraries may play in the future of this type of information. If you have a favorite media website please bring it so we can share it with everyone.

This should prove to be a very interesting discussion, so please join us.

Interested in sharing photos online? Ever wonder what flickr and other photo-sharing tools have to offer to libraries?

Come learn about flickr, Google’s Picasa, Facebook, and Photobucket.

If you want, try opening an account and uploading some photos before Friday or just bring a jumpdrive with some you would like to upload.

Join us this Friday, September 4th at 10:00 am in room 2233 for a great presentation. We will talk about privacy, sharing, geotagging, editing photos and more!
