We’re fortunate the David O. McKay School of Education continues to add items to their ScholarsArchive collection. A few dozen presentations have recently been added on topics related to positive behavior support. Not only are these materials useful to scholars, but also to public school teachers and parents. Click here to browse the collection to find something you’re interested in!

The last several months we have been working to migrate ScholarsArchive to a new server and update the software. At last we can say that everything is updated! You are able to access your items the same way and permanent URLs are still be functioning.
The home page of ScholarsArchive still looks the same, but you’ll see a difference in the way the collections look when you browse or search for items. We think you’ll like the changes. Take a look at the new and improved ScholarsArchive!

One of the great things about adding your work to ScholarsArchive is that every item will be assigned a permanent URL. You can publish this URL without worrying about it changing 6 months or 6 years from now. We’ll make sure that URL is always pointing to your item, even through software changes and server updates. Another great reason to submit your work today!

Do you have images or other artifacts that would be valuable to have online for your students? If so, you should consider adding your teaching materials to ScholarsArchive. The Herbarium Collection has a group of images provided specifically for a BYU class, Plant & Wildlife Science 330. By adding these images to ScholarsArchive, the professor has made it possible for students to find what they need for class online!
Please send an email to scholarsarchive@byu.edu to get started!

As mentioned in previous posts, we’re upgrading the software ScholarsArchive is on. Hopefully by the end of the month you’ll see improvements in the display of your items in ScholarsArchive. However, there’s a change coming for those of you using the ScholarsArchive statistics widget. Unfortunately, the widget will no longer work with the newer version of the software. We’re taking this opportunity to work on improving the way we report ScholarsArchive usage to contributors, so stay tuned!

Many authors wonder what the difference is between a “pre-print” and a “post-print”. Publishers often specify which version of a paper is allowed in a repository, like ScholarsArchive.
The “pre-print” is the version of your paper as it was at the time you submitted it to the publisher for consideration.
The “post-print” is the version of your paper after you’ve made peer-review changes, but before it has the publisher’s formatting (page numbers, journal title in the header or footer, etc.).
The “final” or “publisher version” is the paper as it appears in the journal with all the publisher’s formatting.
Hope that helps!

Faculty,
The Harold B. Lee Library aims to support you in all areas of scholarly communication by hosting a range of tools. As a faculty member, you are invited to participate in a survey to help us determine how to improve current services and develop new resources in this area. Please check your email inbox for a link to the survey, which will be open until October 7.
Thank you for your feedback!
