About the Event
Laurel and Hardy travel to Brushwood Gulch to inform Lawrence, who sweeps out the saloon of her guardian Finlayson, that she has inherited a gold mine from her late father. However, Finlayson and his saloon singer girlfriend conspire to get the deed from the boys. Recognized as one of their finest comedies, Way Out West was produced by Laurel (the skinny one) and has them rendering a dance number that is one of the classic comedy scenes in the Laurel & Hardy canon. Their vocal rendition of “In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia” became a hit when released in England as a single more than 30 years after the film’s release! Hal Roach/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. 1937. 65 mins. Director: James W. Horne.
