About the Event
Laurel and Hardy established their legendary reputations on popular short comedies that were shown along with feature films in the 1920s and 1930s. In their only Academy Award-winning film, piano movers Stan and Ollie take on the shade of Sisyphus as they overcome an almost insurmountably steep and long flight of stairs in delivering a piano as a surprise to the befuddled, pompous Billy Gilbert. The flight of stairs in Los Angeles where filming took place is now a certified city landmark. The movie is pure genius. Hal Roach/Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. 1932. 30 mins. Director: James Parrott.
