Reference Desk Information added to Subject Pages

October 5, 2006

Reference desk information will be added to the subject pages. This will help students and others to quickly identify a reference desk that can give them help on their research needs as well as the subject librarian who can answer more sophisticated research questions. For an example of what the pages will look like see http://www.lib.byu.edu/betsy/biology.html

Subject librarians were asked for their feedback and modifications were made to the page based on the information received. The project is moving forward and will be a part of the new subs utility program. The estimated project completion is 6-8 weeks.

  1. As I’ve commented before, I think this is a great thing to do. Something I didn’t say previously was that if every reference desk is going to have an e-mail address–something I would recommend–we ought to keep very good track of how much the volume of e-mail to desks changes after the change is mad.

  2. Jeff, that’s a great idea. I will follow up with Michael on this issue. Thanks!

  3. You welcome Betsy :)
