<p><strong>To find folktales or fairy tales using the catalog:</strong></p>
<p>1. Open the HBLL homepage</p>
<p>2. Below the main search bar choose “Advanced Keyword Search”</p>
<p>3. Once in the advanced search, go to the drop-down menu that is labeled <strong>location</strong> and select “Juvenile Collection”</p>
<p>4. Go up to the pull-down menu labeled <strong>genre</strong> and type either “folklore” or “fairy tales”</p>
<p>5. Select items that have 398.2 call numbers.</p>
<p><strong>To find folktales or fairy tales from a specific country:</strong></p>
<p>1. Follow steps 1-3 above.</p>
<p>2. Go to the pull-down bar labeled <strong>genre/form</strong> and type “folklore”  or “fairy tales” plus the county of interest, such as German, France, Japan,  Ukraine.</p>
<p><strong>To find a specific fairytale,</strong> ex: Cinderella:</p>
<p>1. Open the HBLL homepage</p>
<p>2. Below the main search bar choose “Advanced Keyword Search”</p>
<p>3. Once in the advanced search, go to the drop-down menu that is labeled <strong>location</strong> and select “Juvenile Collection”</p>
<p>4. Go up to the pull-down menu labeled <strong>subject</strong> and type in ‘Cinderella’.</p>
<p>5. Search. You should find about 30 titles. The newest books will be listed first.</p>

<p>Also try an author search with the surname first.  Some recommended authors are: Nikki Grimes, Shel Silverstein, Barbara J. Esbensen, Jack Prelutsky, and Alice Schertle.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Participation books provide visual, tactile, or audio elements that encourage the child to explore.  Participation books include things such as flaps to lift, components to manipulate, sounds to make, or textures to touch. Pop-up books are a subset of participation books.</p>
<p>To find pop-up books:</p>
<ol>
<li>Open the <a href="http://www.lib.byu.edu/">HBLL homepage</a>.</li>
<li>Select &#8220;Library Catalog&#8221; under <span style="text-decoration: underline">Unique Collections at BYU</span></li>
<li>Below the main search bar choose “Advanced Keyword Search”</li>
<li>Once in the advanced search, go to the drop-down menu labeled <strong>location</strong> and select &#8220;Juvenile Collection Locked Case&#8221;</li>
<li>Go up to the drop-down menu labeled <strong>genre/form</strong> and type “pop-up books.” Search.</li>
<li>The newest books will list listed first. To find older titles, use the term “toy and movable books.” Select the titles you would like see and take the list of titles and call numbers to the reference assistant in 4720 HBLL to have the books retrieved for use.</li>

Call number: JUVENILE REFERENCE PN 1009.5 .P5 X56 2006. Using the Subject Guide, consult the term <strong>Participation </strong>to find a list of books. Take the titles you wish to find to the <a href="http://www.lib.byu.edu/">HBLL homepage</a>, and do a title search to find the call number.</p>
