Conexiones: Finding Award-Winning Literature with Hispanic/Latino Characters

- Américas Book Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature , given by the University of Wisconsin’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, honors U.S. publications of fiction, poetry, folklore, or non-fiction that authentically portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinos in the United States.
- The Pura Belpré Award, established by the Association of Library Services to Children, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in literature for children and youth.
- The Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award, established by Texas State University College of Education, recognizes authors and illustrators who create quality children’s literature depicting the Mexican American experience.
