Gale Directory Library

January 12th, 2009

We have acquired electronic versions of several key reference titles on the Gale Directory Library platform, which allows for some useful features, such as exporting lists of companies or associations to MS Excel.  These include current editions of:

  • American Wholesalers and Distributors Directory
  • Consultants and Consulting Organizations Directory
  • Encyclopedia of Associations
  • National Directory of Nonprofit Organizations
  • Brands and Their Companies
  • Market Share Reporter

Click on advanced search and you can select a specific title and search to find a consultancy in Utah, or to see what the market share is for Honda’s Civic Hybrid.

New Reference Sources

December 22nd, 2008

We are in the process of converting the Management and Economics Reference Collection into electronic versions. Here are some recent highlights:

The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics, 2nd edition, edited by Steven N. Durlauf and Lawrence E. Blume, contains over 1,850 articles by more than 1,500 leading economists. It’s a great source for biographies of important economists, and the place for an introduction to any topic in economics. When you’re ready to dig deeper, each article provides a bibliography of key sources.

The Business and Economics Collection from Blackwell Reference includes specialized encyclopedias and handbooks on topics from cross-cultural management to entrepreneurship, from mediation to mentoring to macroeconomics.

Note that entries for all these e-books are included in the library’s catalog so they can be included in the results whenever you search for books.
