From December 21st to January 6th the south portion of the library will be closed due to required updates to the electrical infrastructure.  This includes the MEGI area.  Our Reference Desk will be closed, and our Meebo IM service will be down.

The Business Librarians, Andy Spackman (andy_spackman@byu.edu) and Leticia Camacho (leticia_camacho@byu.edu), will periodically check their email, and that will be the best way to receive research assistance during this period.

A comprehensive database of accounting and auditing information. The standards section provides access to the full text of all current authoritative accounting and auditing standards from the AICPA, SEC, PCAOB, GAO, OBM and IASB. The database also includes secondary analysis from the Big Four accounting firms and the Miller Guides. All the content is cross-referenced. Updated daily. Available from the Accounting Subject Page.

We now have access to RMA’s Annual Statement Studies online.  These are the only source of composite performance metrics derived directly from the financial statements of financial institutions’ borrowers and prospects.

The Financial Ratio Benchmarks Data (FRB) provides common-sized fundamentals and norms for industries, including liquidity, coverage, leverage, and operating ratios.  The Industry Default Probability Data (IDP) uses cash flow measures and Moody’s KMV’s RiskCalc to project the Expected Default Frequency (EDF) for an industry.

This data stretches back five years and can be examined on a national or regional basis.  It is also broken up by the size of firms within an industry, and everything can be exported to Excel.

If you need to know how a firm’s cash balance and current ratio compare to the rest of its industry, and how likely firms in the industry are to default on debt, this is the database for you.  It’s listed on our pages as eStatement Studies (RMA).
