Biography & Genealogy Master Index (Gale) A Genealogy database. This database indexes more than 13.6 million biographical sketches in over 3000 volumes and editions of current and retrospective reference books. Covers both contemporary and historical figures throughout the world.

Directory of Open Access Journals DOAJ covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. There are now 2,853 journals in the directory.
Dissertations & Theses (ProQuest) Coverage: 1861 - Current. With more than 2 million entries, PQD&T is the single, central, authoritative resource for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350-word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. UMI offers over 1.8 million titles for purchase in microfilm or paper formats. More than 600,000 are available in native or image PDF formats for immediate free download.

EBSCO Databases 1984+ Provides indexing and abstracts for nearly 2,880 journals and full text for over 1,250 academic, social sciences, humanities, general science, education, and multi-cultural journals. Over half of the journals are peer reviewed. Full text backfiles as far back as January 1990. Updated daily.
Edith Irvine Photograph Collection 293 photographs of California, especially stunning are her 1906 San Francisco earthquake images, with other important California images from the Electra Power Project (1898-1902), Mokelumne Hill and Yosemite National Park.
Encyclopedia of the Middle Ages Consists of articles on all aspects of the period from the fifth to the fifteenth century, exploring art, architecture, religion, law, science, language, philosophy, and theology, as well as cultural, religious, intellectual, social and political history. With a focus on focus on Europe and Christendom, the Encyclopedia also covers the rise of Islam and people of other cultures with whom Europeans came into contact.
Encyclopedic History of the Church Andrew Jenson was the first to organize Latter-day Saint historical data into an encyclopedic form. This work is particularly valuable in providing brief histories of Church units from their beginnings up to 1930. Entries are also provided for the history of the Church in various geographic areas of the world.

George Edward Anderson Photograph Collection Almost 13,000 images taken ca. 1878-1928, which includes studio and environmental portraits, mostly of Utah residents; Utah railroad and mining history (including the 1900 Scofield mine disaster); and Mormon (LDS) Church historic sites.
globalEDGE This internation business and country studies information portal, from the Center for International Business Education and Research, Michigan State Unviersity, provides access to more than five thousand Internet resources with annotations. Also pulls together economic, trade, and industry information from a number of sources and produces a Market Potential Index (MPI) for Emerging Markets.
Google Scholar Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations. Google Scholar helps you identify the most relevant research across the world of scholarly research. By logging into Google Scholar from off-campus, the library holdings will be integrated into your search results allowing you to quickly find the full-text of scholarly materials.
Guide to Mormon Diaries and Autobiographies Davis Bitton's guide was published in 1977 and is still one of the best resources available for locating Mormon Diaries in over a dozen U.S. repositories. By clicking the Bookmarks tab on the left, the user can use the table of contents to quickly jump through the document. By using the binoculars icon on the Adobe tools menu, the user can keyword search through the entire document which contains abstracts of nearly three thousand diaries and autobiographies.
Guide to Women's Manuscript Collections An ongoing project to identify and summarize women's papers held in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections Archives at BYU Library. Each entry includes a short biography and abstract which are textword searchable. More entries are added each year.

In the First Person: Index to Letters, Diaries, Oral Histories, and Other Personal Narratives (ASP) In the First Person allows one to perform in-depth field and keyword searches across all letters, diaries, oral histories, memoirs, and autobiographies within scholarly materials that are freely available on the Web and other Alexander Street databases (including North American Women's Letters and Diaries, British and Irish Women's Letters and Diaries, Oral History Online, Black Thought and Culture, Early Encounters in North America: Peoples, Cultures, and the Environment, North American Immigrant Letters, Diaries, and Oral Histories, The American Civil War: Letters and Diaries, Women and Social Movements in the U.S., North American Indian Biographical Database, and Latino Literature). LDS Biographical Encyclopedia The biographies in this database, collected around 1900, detail the lives of many men and women who played a role in the organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The information for some is more complete than for others, church leaders being among the more detailed. However, most biographies include birth and death dates, marriage and children information, and even professional accomplishments.

MEDLINE Plus This website is created and maintained by the NLM (National Library of Medicine). The “Health Topics” option has a list of over 600 topics that provide a variety of types of information about the topic. The information is written by professional health experts. There are full text information, references, and links to additional websites on each topic. This information will provide excellent background information along with much specific information for the topics included. More topics are being added each month.

Mormon Missionary Diaries A growing and geographically varied collection of original writings from the 1830s into the 1960s.
Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel (1847-1868) The most complete index of individuals and companies that crossed the plains in Church companies between 1847 and 1868. Many names are still missing.
Mormon Studies Website This online research guide for scholarly material on Mormon theology, history, culture, and people is maintained by J. Michael Hunter, Mormon Studies Librarian at Brigham Young University. This guide only provides links to information that is freely available over the Internet. Links include the full-text or image files of articles, books, biographies, diaries, manuscripts, dissertations, family histories, photographs, films, music, art, and more.

Personal Writings of Joseph Smith This volume by Dean C. Jessee, now updated and revised, collects the personal writings of Joseph Smith -- those written in his own hand or dictated to a scribe -- and includes photographs of the original documents.

Studies in Mormon History The database includes articles, books, theses, and Ph.D. dissertations dealing with the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, written from the time of its inception in 1830 to the present. Since it is intended as a guide to responsible historical scholarship it does not, for the most part, include highly pejorative works, though it does include controversial works that still have historical substance or interest.

Testaments to the Holocaust (Gale) Electronic holdings of the Wiener Library in London, England. These holdings also include publications of the Wiener Library. The collection includes Nazi propaganda materials; Hitler Youth materials; pamphlets, books; and a rare encyclopedia of anti-Semitism. The core of the collection is 1,200 eyewitness accounts dealing with the pogrom of 1938 through the scope of the Holocaust. Also included are photographic materials.

Variation in English Words and Phrases With the British National Corpus (BNC) as underlying textual database, VIEW contains 100 million words of text from more than 70 registers. Several types of searches are supported: full wildcard, "fuzzy queries" (one word near another), searching by register (to compare vocabulary and grammar across the 70+ registers), simple side-by-side comparisons of the collocates of synonyms and antonyms, and integration with WordNet, a semantically-based hierarchy of English.
