The ASBYU (Associated
Students of Brigham Young University) was formally organized in 1933 by
President Franklin S. Harris. Then in 1988, President Jeffery R. Holland and
the BYU Board of Trustees reorganized the ASBYU into the BYUSA (Brigham Young
University Student Service Association.) The BYUSA is the official student-run
association of campus. The members are dedicated to serving the student body
and advising the administration. Besides serving the BYU community, the members
of BYUSA are to be leaders centered on Jesus Christ, who contribute to the
building of Zion communities which are united in heart and mind that there be
no intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, or physically poor among
us.
This collection contains ASBYU
organizational materials, such as executive manuals and handbooks. The
collection also contains information about election candidates and their
platforms, election pamphlets, photographs of council members, scrapbooks,
newspaper articles, and other ASBYU club material.

Restricted. Closed for 25 years after the creation of the records and
thereafter open to the public after consultation with the University Archivist
and in accordance with the General Restriction Statement of the L. Tom Perry
Special Collections.

Biographical History
The ASBYU (Associated Students of Brigham Young University) was
formally organized in 1933 by President Franklin S. Harris. Then in 1988,
President Jeffery R. Holland and the BYU Board of Trustees reorganized the
ASBYU into the BYUSA (Brigham Young University Student Service Association.)
