Associated Women Students
of Brigham Young University was a group from the late 1950's to the 1970's
whose responsibilities included planning Preference Dance, Homecoming, and The
Preferred Man Contest. They also sponsored activities such as Big and Little
Sisters that matched incoming freshmen women to upperclassmen to aid in the
transition to college. The Associated Women Students of Brigham Young
University organized Women's Week, which was to provide an opportunity to
strengthen bonds between themselves, their mothers, and other women.
This collection contains the records of
the activities of the Associated Women Students, including diaries, scrapbooks,
and photographs of members and homecoming royalty.

Biographical History
Associated Women Students of Brigham Young University was a group from
the late 1950's to the 1970's whose responsibilities included planning
Preference Dance, Homecoming, and The Preferred Man Contest. They also
sponsored activities such as Big and Little Sisters that matched incoming

Notes on Arrangement
The collection is divided into four series: the first includes records
of activities hosted by the Associated Women Students of Brigham Young
University, the second series contains office records of the Associated Women
Students of Brigham Young University, the third series contains corporate
records that do not seem to have any apparent relation to Associated Women
Students of Brigham Young University, the fourth and final series contains
scrapbooks made by the Associated Women Students of Brigham Young University
that include newspaper clippings, photographs, and entries by individual
members.
