the Academic Vice President, the four Associate Academic Vice Presidents are
responsible for International, Distance, & Continuing Education; faculty;
research and graduate studies; and undergraduate studies.
This collection consists of faculty
files, campus summaries and reports, minutes, general office documents, and
correspondence from the office of the Associate Academic Vice
President.
Provenance
The Brigham Young University Associate Academic Vice-President
records, 1977-1992 were transferred to the University Archives from Records
Management in May 2003.
Access
Restricted. Closed for 50 years following the end of the President's
administration and thereafter open to the public after consultation with the
University Archivist and in accordance with the General Restriction Statement
of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections.

Biographical History
The Academic Vice-President is responsible for all academic programs
in the various schools, colleges, and departments of the University, including
Admissions, the Library, and Division of Continuing Education; developing the
academic stature of the University, developing curricula, improving
instruction, and increasing the scholarly and creative work; hiring,
development and advancement of the faculty; and works directly with the
deans.
Under the direction of the Academic Vice-President, the four Associate
Academic Vice-Presidents are responsible for International, Distance, &
Continuing Education; faculty; research and graduate studies; and undergraduate
studies; the Assistant Academic Vice-President is responsible for computing
services.
Scope and Content Note
These records document the activities of the Associate Academic
Vice-President responsible for faculty. The majority of the records are from
the administrative terms of Bevan Ott.
This collection consists of faculty files, campus summaries and
reports, minutes, general office documents, and correspondence from the office
of the Associate Academic Vice-President.
Notes on Arrangement
The Associate Academic Vice-President records are divided into five
series. The records in each series are arranged chronologically unless noted.
The first series Correspondence has two subseries General Correspondence and
Faculty Correspondence. The Faculty Correspondence has been arrange
alphabetically by first name. The second series is Minutes. The third series is
Faculty Files which consists of two subseries General Faculty Files and
Research Proposals--both subseries have been arranged alphabetically by first
name. The fourth series is Campus Summaries and Reports, and the fifth series
is General Office Files.
